To the tune of "The 12 Days of Christmas"

On the first day of Christmas my - fill in the blank - gave to me

A puppy beneath the Christmas tree.

On the second day of Christmas my puppy gave to me

Two scratched-up arms,

From the puppy beneath the Christmas tree.

On the third day of Christmas my puppy gave to me

Three chewed-up socks,

Two scratched-up arms,

From the puppy beneath the Christmas tree.

On the fourth day of Christmas my puppy gave to me

Four hours of sleep,

Three holes in socks,

Two scratched-up arms,

From the puppy beneath the Christmas tree.

On the fifth day of Christmas my puppy gave to me

Five piles of poo!

Four hours of sleep,

Three holes in socks,

Two scratched-up arms,

From the puppy beneath the Christmas tree.

On the sixth day of Christmas my puppy gave to me

Six loads of laundry,

Five piles of poo!

Four hours of sleep,

Three holes in socks,

Two scratched-up arms,

From the puppy beneath the Christmas tree.

On the seventh day of Christmas my puppy gave to me

Seven "Stop the barking"

Six loads of laundry,

Five piles of poo!

Four hours of sleep,

Three holes in socks,

Two scratched-up arms,

From the puppy beneath the Christmas tree.

On the eighth day of Christmas my puppy gave to me

Eight "Why’d we do this?"

Seven "Stop the barking"

Six loads of laundry,

Five piles of poo!

Four hours of sleep,

Three holes in socks,

Two scratched-up arms,

From the puppy beneath the Christmas tree.

On the ninth day of Christmas my puppy gave to me

Nine "I can’t take this"

Eight "Why’d we do this?"

Seven "Stop the barking"

Six loads of laundry,

Five piles of poo!

Four hours of sleep,

Three holes in socks,

Two scratched-up arms,

From the puppy beneath the Christmas tree.

On the tenth day of Christmas my puppy gave to me

Ten whiny whimpers

Nine "I can’t take this"

Eight "Why’d we do this?"

Seven "Stop the barking"

Six loads of laundry,

Five piles of poo!

Four hours of sleep,

Three holes in socks,

Two scratched-up arms,

From the puppy beneath the Christmas tree.

On the eleventh day of Christmas my puppy gave to me

Eleven "Take him back now!’s

Ten whiny whimpers

Nine "I can’t take this"

Eight "Why’d we do this?"

Seven "Stop the barking"

Six loads of laundry,

Five piles of poo!

Four hours of sleep,

Three holes in socks,

Two scratched-up arms,

From the puppy beneath the Christmas tree.

On the twelfth day of Christmas I just could take no more,

Twelve days of Hades

Eleven "Take him back now!’s

Ten whiny whimpers

Nine "I can’t take this"

Eight "Why’d we do this?"

Seven "Stop the barking"

Six loads of laundry,

Five piles of poo!

Four hours of sleep,

Three holes in socks,

Two scratched-up arms,

From the puppy beneath the Christmas tree.

Every year pets are given as gifts. Every February or March, humane organizations get most of them back. Statistics show that around 50 percent of pets given as gifts end up in shelters. Taking on the responsibility of a pet is a 15-20 year commitment. Make certain the entire family agrees on a pet. Do lots of research and make sure everyone wants a pet. And remember. . .

Please!! No pets as gifts!!
